Client:Bank

Problem.A Top 10 European bank with a global client base was considering expansion of its commercial card offerings and entry to emerging markets in parts of Asia and Latin America.

Goal.To assist the bank in gauging the viability of entering the commercial cards space in certain developing markets and assessing the market potential over a 6 year time horizon.

Outcome.The very largest firms in each market were identified and profiled as potential customers of any new product offerings. Current card offerings and penetration rates in each market were analyzed for each of four commercial card types. Competitor market shares were assessed. Our analysts helped determine which segments and markets to target and what services and products to provide, in part, based on where the potential was deemed strongest over the projection period. Consequently, the bank decided to focus on a smaller number of markets and product segments and concentrate its efforts more effectively.
